About

I am Charlez Kwan, an independent product engineer based in Germany. I design and build practical products that connect software, devices and real-world workflows.

I work with businesses that have an operational problem, an early product idea, or a process still handled through paper, Excel, WhatsApp or disconnected tools. I help them clarify the problem, test the concept, and turn it into a working prototype or a deployable solution. That tends to fit companies too small for a full product team: installers, logistics operators, event companies, workshops, care organizations, property managers.

The common thread across my projects is connecting people, devices, information and actions in the real world — event and workflow systems, real-time communication, asset and location tracking, embedded devices feeding web software, document processing and operational tools.

What clients get from me is one person who can hold the whole product in one head. Most teams would need a web developer, a hardware developer and someone to glue their work together. I do the design and the integration myself, which keeps the system coherent and shortens the path from idea to something running.

The toolbox behind all of this, when a project calls for it: web applications, embedded devices and electronics, automation, real-time voice and messaging, tracking technologies from QR and NFC to RFID, BLE and LoRa, and the system integration in between. The tools follow the problem, never the other way around.

How I engage

Most engagements move through three stages — product discovery, a working prototype, then product implementation — and you can stop after any of them. I also join existing teams when a product crosses the line between software and hardware and needs one person who covers both. Available across Germany and remotely.
